Centring. A wedged ball of clay is slapped onto the wheel. Wet hands press on it until it spins without a wobble. Wrenhollow is a two-person pottery in an old dairy barn. We throw stoneware vases, bowls and tea sets in small batches, dip them in celadon, tenmoku or shino, and fire them in a gas kiln that takes three days to heat up and cool down. Each piece is signed on the foot, and no two come out of the kiln the same.
